We operate out of four facilities in Zeeland, Michigan; an automotive sales office in Livonia, Michigan; automotive sales and engineering subsidiaries in Germany, France, UK, Korea, Sweden, China and Japan; and four regional U.S. sales offices for the Fire Protection Products Group.

Gentex opened its doors in 1974 as a manufacturer of high-quality fire protection products. We revolutionized the industry with the world's first dual-sensor photoelectric smoke detector - a device less prone to false alarms yet quick to detect slow, smoldering fires.

Today, millions of Gentex smoke detectors and signaling devices can be found in hospitals, hotels, office buildings and other commercial applications throughout North America.

Gentex is best known, however, as the pioneer of the electrochromic, automatic-dimming mirror industry. We've made nighttime driving safer for millions of drivers around the globe by providing the worldwide automotive industry with mirrors that detect and eliminate dangerous rearview mirror glare. Our auto-dimming mirrors are offered as standard or optional equipment on over 220 vehicle models around the world.

Today, Gentex is a global company with annual revenues exceeding $500 million. We have two separate divisions, the Automotive Products Group, which generates approximately 96% of the Company's revenue, and the Fire Protection Products Group.

The common link between the two divisions or product lines is electro-optics, which are advanced sensing devices combined with related electronic circuitry. We continue to advance this technology along with our electrochromic dimming expertise as we develop products and features for new and existing markets.

Gentex has also developed a new light-emitting diode (LED) technology that yields synthetic white light suitable for illumination and signaling purposes. The new devices also can use standard, off-the-shelf monochrome colored LEDs and make them up to ten times brighter than anything currently available.
